Ball’s wide mouth 24 ounce jars  also know as Venti Mason Jars, or Pint & Half Jar, have been a favorite with preservers and mason jar fans.  Their wide mouth and shoulder-free design  makes them easy to fill,  easy to empty,  and safe for the freezer!  In fact, it’s safe to say that these jars get turned over the most in our home. Sadly, Ball is discontinuing these, and boy will we miss them. We do still have them in stock, but we know they will go fast now that the word is out.   1. We’ve frozen lots of food in them, including soups.
  2. They are a perfect vessel for pickling asparagus.
  3. We’ve often topped them with our ReCAP lids for some creative uses.
  4. Perfect for storing tea concentrate in them, or drinking tea (and other beverages) from them when paired with an iLid and a straw.
  5. As a standard jar in our Mason Jar Meal Kits, we’ve packed lots of lunches in them.
  6. Our pantry items stay easily visible (and organized) when stored in these jars.

      That’s exactly what I use them for! I found the most adorable insulated Neoprene cozies that fit them perfectly, and I have the special sipper lid that makes it feel more or less like the ones you’d get from the coffee shop. But way cooler. I have two that I rotate through, and of course they’re sturdy, but now I feel I have to be super careful not to let anything happen to them!

    I’ve not used them yet but would love to because so many times I wish there was an in between size so my canning matched my cooking recipes better (I I could open one jar of tomatoes and not two…leaving half of one in the fridge).

    This is my favorite size- I love the look of them. I currently use most of the ones I already have for dry goods storage- nuts, specialty flours, chocolate (and other flavor) morsels. My favorite current use is as a water glass; it fits perfectly in my cars cup holder so I can take it everywhere. Thanks for the chance to win a great prize!

    They are perfect for drinking, canning or freezing spaghetti sauce, fruits, vegetables, soups and stews. They are just the right size for a meal in a jar for me. I haven’t had any of them in a long time because last time I went looking I couldn’t find any and didn’t know they were available at all anymore.

    For salsa and pickled things. For a household of two, quarts are typically too big and pints empty too fast…I loved that in between size! I’m surprised they are discontinuing. If they polled canners, I’m sure they’d see how beloved they are! 🙂

    NO!!! Say it ain’t SO!!! I LOVE THESE JARS! I use them for EVERYTHING! Aside from canning, I’ve been storing nuts and coffee, freezing soups, taking lunch to work, I’ve had the best luck with them for tall pickles like asparagus and amazing lebanese pickles, and they’re just right for drinking water in the car. Gosh DARN it!!

    I learned to make salad dressing with these jars when I was a kid. So, these are my go to for that. They became hard to find, so I collected them from thrift shops.
    Now that I’ve started canning. I love them for pickling things like green beans and for salsas, applesauce, jalapenos….
    They’re a perfect size.

    So many uses! Any larger than usual volume for canning (such as chicken stock), refrigerating left-overs (like soups), dry storage for opened packages of brown sugars, confectioners sugars, cornstarch, cornmeal, etc. And I haven’t even mentioned the non-food uses!

    I didn’t even know that these beauties existed! I feel like these would be PERFECT for an “adult” picnic or party. Can you say mojito? Maybe even a rustic margarita! YUM!!! These are too perfect. I also love PICKLES, spicy pickles would look beautiful in these jars!

    I’ve never used them, but some of the YouTube channels I follow love to can ground beef in them. They seem like the perfect size for a meal; a pint is usually just shy of what I need and a quart (or two pints) is too much sometimes.

    As a person who lives a whole-food, plant-based lifestyle, the pint and a half jars are a necessity for refrigerator and freezer storage. I use the wide-mouth plastic lids for all storage except my canning, of course. I’m going out to buy up all I can find! They take up the least amount of space – tall, no shoulders, the perfect size! My beans, grains, flours, seeds, veggie stock – everything goes in these. If I wrote this on paper, it would be wet with tears! Don’t retire these terrific jars.

    These are great for soup – just the right amount to take to work. Wonderful “drinking glasses” for summer lemonade, smoothies, and milkshakes!

    And good for canning too — green beans, asparagus, and mixed giardiniera (Italian mixed pickles with cauliflower and carrots and other veggies) fit well in these!

    Interesting. 24 oz is 3 cups. 1 cup shy of a qt. 1 cup more than a pt. So it is probably best for storage of long items: pencils, pastas, celery, meter leads, carrots, asparagus, teas (bags and loose), coffee, pickles, cucumbers, spices…myriad possibilities! I’d like to give them a try.

    25 years ago my mom used to can pickles. Hers were the only pickles I liked as a child. This will be my first year canning pickles this summer, she’s now 75 years old and teaching me how to can and put up our own food after a 25 year hiatus!

    I’ve only had one case of them, and canned cherries and Italian plums in them. I really like the cylindrical look of them, might have to use them more for canning. I’m also intrigued by using them for lunches – usually I use a wide-mouth pint, but I could see these being ideal for some foods.

    They’re the perfect size for so many pantry staples – I have a row of them filled with nuts, grains, and hot chocolate mix.

    My biggest use for these right now is temporary storage for the cream from our mini-Jersey cow. I even have some of my husband’s grandfather’s VERY old jars in this style with the pebbled letters and grips that he used to freeze oysters for many, many years.

    Great for smoothies, milkshakes, cold drinks. A few ice cubes fit nicely in these. Wonderful for canning long veggies or fruit.

    Love these jars paired with shaker lids when I have an overabundance of dill weed and basil. Also, filled with ice tea and paired with the straw lids.
